Pisgah National Forest, North Carolina — 84 Lumber associates joined the U.S. Forest Service and the North Carolina Forest Service at the harvesting of the U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree, a 78′ red spruce affectionately called “Ruby,” from the Pisgah National Forest in a ceremony on Nov. 2.
84 Lumber is the presenting sponsor of this year’s tree, also known as the “People’s Tree” since it comes from public lands. The ceremony included a musical performance by Woody Platt and Shannon Whitworth, and the Cherokee Legend of the Evergreen Trees told by this year’s Youth Tree Lighter, Coche Tiger, a citizen of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians. The ceremony was live-streamed on the U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree’s Facebook page.
