ABMA members overwhelmingly oppose vaccine mandate

vaccine mandate

Following the announcement by President Biden that a vaccine mandate would require companies with more than 100 employees to request proof of vaccination against COVID-19 or weekly testing, the American Building Materials Alliance asked its dealer members what they thought.

Nearly three fourths of the dealers responding to an ABMA email survey oppose the mandate. In an email to members, ABMA Director of Legislative & Regulatory Affairs Kirk Ives provided the chart below showing results of the survey.

A recent LBM Journal Real Issues. Real Answers feature also took on the topic of vaccine requirements, asking if LBM dealers should require their team members to get vaccinated. Of those LBM Journal readers surveyed previous to President Biden’s vaccine mandate, 80% said they would not require a vaccination, and 15% were still deciding on the matter.

In Ives’s email to members, he said the ABMA “will continue to gather information from OSHA on the upcoming emergency rule and will be drafting a letter to both the White House and OSHA that will outline our concerns with the proposed vaccine mandate.”
