Alexander Lumber Co. has opened a brand new lumberyard in Iowa City, Iowa. The new location features a retail sales facility as well as a warehouse, and large lumber shed. The lumberyard officially opened for business on July 1.
“Opening a new lumberyard is exciting for the company. We shifted our brand strategy in early 2019, and the new Iowa City location represents what we can do as a more nimble, pro-focused organization. As a company, we have been helping build communities for 128 years, and we’re pleased to be able to do the same in the greater Iowa City area,” said Alexander Lumber President and CEO Russ Kathrein.
Alexander Lumber has had a presence in Iowa City since 2016, when the company acquired Nagle Lumber. It subsequently opened Answers By Alexander, its interiors showroom and design center, in Iowa City in 2017.
“We’re proud to be part of the growth that our community is experiencing,” says Alexander Lumber Iowa City General Manager Brian Ahrendsen. “Our employees all are industry experts with a wealth of knowledge about building materials, and we will consult with our customers to ensure they get the best products for their projects. We can provide any of the products needed for any building or remodeling project, big or small.”
The company plans to celebrate the grand opening of its newest lumberyard in mid-July, with a private ribbon-cutting ceremony on July 18. On July 19, there will be events, including a vendor fair for local builders, contractors, professional remodelers, and others in the building materials industry. The public grand opening is scheduled to take place on Saturday, July 20, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. when the community is invited to attend a family-friendly summer cookout in celebration of the new yard.
