American Association of Roundtables to conduct building supply industry wage and salary survey

Beaufort, S.C.—Companies at the dealer level of the building supply industry soon will be able to assess the effectiveness of their current pay structure and practices with the help of a wage and salary survey to be launched this fall by the American Association of Roundtables (AART).

The survey’s findings will show compensation trends for 16 job categories by U.S. region as well as by dealer sales volume and customer mix. A link to the online survey will be emailed to retail LBM dealers in mid-September with the completed surveys due by mid-October. To cover the cost of producing, emailing, compiling and disseminating the survey results, participants will be charged a $199 fee.

White Paper: Paving the Way Forward in a Touchless Environment: How building suppliers and distributors are doing business

In light of states opening back up, learn what LBM businesses are doing right now to thrive in a contact-less environment regarding employee safety, business operations, and communication.

“It’s becoming increasingly challenging to attract and retain employees in today’s tight job market,” AART President Jim Enter said. “According to a recent poll, nearly half of employers polled agree that the strong job market has increased their turnover rates.  Meanwhile, retention tops the list of reasons for why organizations adjust their compensation strategy.”

AART’s wage survey will help employers identify the market rate—what other organizations pay for similar work. Knowing that rate will give employers confidence that the salaries they are paying are consistent with what’s being paid in the market for comparable work. That in turn helps assure the organization has a competitive work force.

“Valid, up-to-date, industry specific compensation surveys provide the comprehensive data needed to allow dealers to attract, retain and motivate their employees, while exercising prudent management of what the company spends on its workforce,” Enter said.
