On the heels of last week’s announcement that it launched a drywall and insulation distributor, Kodiak Building Partners has now introduced Freedom Acoustics, a new partnership with Freedom Materials that will provide complete ceiling systems in the greater Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Washington D.C. metro markets.
Freedom Acoustics will distribute Rockfon Mineral Wool Tile and Chicago Metallic Grid and Metal Ceilings. The company, which was founded as a greenfield expansion of Freedom Materials in June 2020, will be led by Bob Kempf, a prominent figure in the building materials industry since 1998. Freedom Acoustics will be part of the Gypsum Division at Kodiak Building Partners, under the leadership of Silvio Ferrari.
“Freedom Materials has been a strong and respected player in the greater Delaware market for gypsum and building materials. Adding Freedom Acoustics to our growing organization to expand our ceiling and acoustics capabilities is an important component of our growth strategy, and the Freedom team helps to further these efforts,” said Steve Swinney, CEO of Kodiak.
Silvio Ferrari, President of Freedom Materials, said that “Freedom Acoustics was conceived to fulfill a market need of delivering finished materials to jobsites undamaged. Ceiling materials are easily destroyed, and after 20 plus years of mishandling by wall board distributors, it was time to shift our thinking surrounding acoustic products.”
“We have partnered with Rockfon Mineral Wool Tile and Chicago Metallic Grid & Metal Ceilings because of the array of product offerings and their innovative approach to product design. We are excited to be offering the largest Rockfon and Chicago Metallic inventory in the greater Philadelphia and the Baltimore DC Metro areas,” added Bob Kempf, head of business development at Freedom Acoustics.
