Bagwell Lumber begins expansion project

Bagwell Lumber has broken ground for the construction of its new storage facility on North Central Avenue in Avon Park, FL, according to reporting from the Highlands News-Sun. It’s expected to be completed within six to eight months, construction crews are currently working on the foundation.

The new structure is adjacent to Bagwell Lumber’s Avon Park facility on a 0.95-acre site near the Avon Park Depot Museum. It’s around 12,000-sq.-ft. and will provide more room as well as organization for the lumber company.

Bagwell Lumber Co., located at 309 W. Pleasant St., has been in business for 67 years providing building materials for the area. Tommy Bagwell opened the Avon Park lumber yard in August of 1957. Three generations later Gary Bagwell now helms the operation working side by side with his son Dusty (fourth generation) to continue one of the area’s oldest family businesses.
