JONESBORO, Ark.— Cullen Barbato has joined home improvement retailer E.C. Barton & Company as Vice President of Marketing, Real Estate and IT.
Barbato assumes the newly-created position at the Jonesboro-based company, serving to align the activities named in his title to improve efficiency and accelerate growth.
Cullen previously spent more than seven years with The Home Depot. He served in a variety of roles with the Expo Design, Landscape Supply and Builder Services divisions. He led the assimilation of nine acquisitions into an integrated system (SAP), and then led store development and implementation of SAP within The Home Depot Canada Division.
Following his time with The Home Depot, Cullen was a Division Vice President for Dollar General. He led a team of 18,000 employees across 2,000 stores, managed profit and loss responsibility for more than $3 billion in revenue and established the division’s strategic direction and operating priorities, values and leadership culture.
Cullen is a graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point then served in the Army as a field artillery officer. While at West Point, he was captain of the golf team earning All-Decade and NCAA All- Coaches team honors. He still enjoys playing golf and now enjoys playing tennis with family and friends. He also earned a Master of Business Administration, Finance & Real Estate from Louisiana State University.
Founded in 1885 at a grocery store, E.C. Barton & Company now spans 17 states from New York to Texas and has 102 stores. The company operates as Barton’s Lumber in eleven stores located in Arkansas and Missouri; 54 Surplus Warehouse locations from Texas to North Carolina and 37 Grossman’s Bargain Outlet locations in New England and Ohio.
