Siding collection joins Boral TruExterior® Trim as products with elite designation
ROSWELL, Georgia – Boral TruExterior™ Siding, part of Boral’s groundbreaking category of poly-ash products, received Cradle to Cradle Certified TM distinction by the Cradle to Cradle Certified™ Products Program. By including product materials that can be reused in technical or biological cycles, Boral TruExterior™ Siding became the second exterior siding product in the industry to earn the Cradle to Cradle Certified™ designation.
Joining the already C2C-certified Boral TruExterior® Trim, Boral TruExterior™ Siding boasts a high level of sustainability with a minimum of 70 percent recycled content. The unique composition of a proprietary polymer and fly ash blend makes the product impervious to termites while helping to prevent the wicking and cycling of moisture. The beneficial qualities make Boral TruExterior™ Siding durable, long lasting and virtually maintenance free.
“We are excited that Boral TruExterior™ Siding has joined the ranks of Cradle to Cradle Certified™ products,” said Tom Zimmerman, Director of Sales and Marketing for Boral TruExterior™ Trim and Siding. “The introduction of our Trim and Siding has broken new ground with an offering that outperforms other exterior options in the marketplace. The addition of the C2C designation exemplifies the marketplace leadership of the Boral TruExterior™ Trim and Siding portfolio.”
Governed by an independent board of directors, the non-profit Cradle to Cradle™ Products Innovation Institute administers the Cradle to Cradle™ Product Standard. According to the Institute, “the designation was created to bring about a new industrial revolution that turns the making of things into a positive force for society, economy, and the planet.” The Cradle to Cradle™ Certified Mark provides consumers, regulators, employees, and industry peers with a clear, visible, and tangible understanding of a manufacturer’s commitment to sustainability.
An alternative to conventional redwood, pine and cedar siding options, the Boral TruExterior™ Siding portfolio satisfies a demand for a workable option not susceptible to the issues which commonly plague wood-based siding (including rotting, cupping, twisting and raised grain). And unlike wood, Boral TruExterior™ Siding includes a 20-year limited warranty. Suitable for ground contact, Boral TruExterior™ Siding does not wick or cycle moisture, and the product can be installed using traditional woodworking tools and methods, plus there is no need for back priming, or to prime or seal end cuts. The product comes primed and may be painted any color.
