An interview with Doug McSpadden of McSpadden Custom Homes, Lake Wylie, S.C.
Q: What sets your company apart?
A: Education, experience and longevity. We have engineered a design/build system that is quite unique and proprietary. It enables and empowers our clients to team with us to develop their project using a predictable and detailed approach that aligns design, specifications and budget, and virtually guarantees a successful end result.
Q: Describe your current LBM supplier, and why you buy from them?
A: We buy a majority of our framing, dry-in, siding and interior trim materials from The Building Center. They have serviced us for decades and are a family-owned business (just like us). Their quality and service have always been dependable. I like keeping our dollars local, and I enjoy building and maintaining rock-solid relationships.
Q: In order of importance, what are the top three things you look for from a supplier?
A: Quality, service, and price—in that order. Our clients deserve the best product and our project managers deserve the best service, but the price still has to be in line so that we all win.
