Capital Lumber has committed to enhanced distribution space in Sacramento, Calif. Capital has been occupying the original Capitol Plywood site since acquiring the company in 2016. With a growing product mix and need for greater inventory levels to serve the market, a larger site became necessary.
Capital Lumber’s new location offers 7.5 paved acres, an 81,000 square-foot warehouse and 4,300 square feet of office space. Additionally, a rail spur on the new site provides the opportunity for improved inbound freight savings on several product lines.
The new location will allow Capital Lumber to expand its service model with products that supply the retail segment with the level of customization and responsiveness that they have been accustomed to receiving from Capital, the company says.
Founded in 1948, Capital is privately held, with eight regional distribution facilities geographically focused in the West that offer sales, market development, inventory management and distribution services within the building materials industry.
