“We’ll buy the lot, finance the construction all the way through until you sell it,” Wall said. “There are no payments until you sell the house and pay us off.” Though there are certain conditions involved, such as getting the property up and sold in six months, as well as purchasing all the merchandise from Power Townsend, the financing program brings in new contractors and keeps them coming back.

The loyalty of these contractors is a big part of Power Townsend’s business. The company has 4,000 active charge accounts and runs its own accounts receivable business.

“Oh, they’ll go try the other guys,” Wall said. “They’ll want to special order a door there and it’s nearly impossible, but we’ll do that. We’ll special order any door or product and we’ll get it in here for you.”

With that continued focus on product knowledge, customer service, and project support, Wall looks forward to a future where one day his son steps into a larger role and the grandsons who come down to the store and work over vacation may one day try a hand at the business as well.

“Kevin will be the leader in the future. That’s in the plan, but I’m having too much fun to leave it right now,” Wall said.
