E.C. Barton announces HR new hire, promotion

JONESBORO Ark. — Human Resources professional Emillee Ballard has been promoted and Julia Zumbach has been hired to E.C. Barton & Company’s Corporate Headquarters.

Ballard was promoted to Human Resources Generalist in August. An E.C. Barton & Company partner for five years, she most recently served as a recruiter in the department.

That title didn’t accurately describe her contributions, according to Human Resources Director Allen Devereux.

“Emilee has taken on increased responsibility in the last two years,” he said. “She has been leading our recruitment efforts, but also does a great deal of work in the areas of partner development and coaching, legal compliance, government reporting, assisting in investigations and following up on complaints and grievances. She has done an exceptional job in these areas.”

Zumbach joined E.C. Barton & Company’s Corporate Headquarters as a recruiter.

The Millington, Tenn. native has worked in human resources at St. Bernards Medical Center, JB Hunt Transportation and Employee Solutions. She also worked as a legal assistant at a Jonesboro law firm and attended the University of Tennessee – Martin.

Founded in 1885 at a grocery store, E.C. Barton & Company now spans 17 states from New York to Texas and has 102 stores. The company operates as Barton’s Lumber in eleven stores located in Arkansas and Missouri; 54 Surplus Warehouse locations from Texas to North Carolina and 37 Grossman’s Bargain Outlet locations in New England and Ohio.
