Entry Door Upgrade Offers Fresh Air and Functionality

When it’s time for a homeowner to replace their front door, features that improve energy efficiency, security, durability, and curb appeal rank high on their wish list. But what if you could offer your customers more—an entry door that offers improved functionality, fresh air, and convenience as well?

ProVia® provides just that with our new Vented Sidelite and Removable Mull Post, an innovative option for Signet® fiberglass entry doors with FrameSaver® frames.

To create a temporary wider opening for furniture or appliance deliveries, the mull post between the entry door and sidelite can be removed, clearing the way for transporting bulky items. While the sidelite is open, the post can be disengaged and detached using slide bolts at the top and bottom, then inserted firmly back in position and securely latched when the task is complete. Only the strike side of the vented sidelite can be opened; the hinge side remains fixed and stationary.

Homeowners who frequently need to carry cumbersome items into and out of the house will appreciate the convenience and practicality of the removable mull post. The unobstructed opening provides a comfortable amount of space and accessibility for the item, allowing the homeowner to move it through without bruising their knuckles or scuffing the door frame.

The vented sidelite opens vertically to allow circulation of fresh air, enhancing ventilation in a home’s entryway or foyer. The sidelite includes a retractable screen with an easy operating inside pull rail, and a magnetic rail that holds the screen securely closed to keep out insects.

A multi-point locking system ensures security when the sidelite is closed, and hidden hinges offer a clean, streamlined appearance. The sidelite opens with a simple quarter-turn of a single knob, and hardware is available in handsome Antique Brass, Bright Brass, Satin Nickel, or Black finish. Any ProVia glass option may be used in the sidelite—privacy, decorative, art, or glass with grids—for an ornamental touch.

The sidelite can be opened discreetly to air out the entry area while the main entry door remains closed and locked.

The FrameSaver door frame is an integral component in this entry door system. FrameSaver is comprised of a wood frame and brickmold with a finger-jointed composite bottom to prevent water absorption that can lead to rot. FrameSaver carries a Lifetime Limited Warranty when used with PVC vinyl-coated aluminum frame cladding outside. Homeowners can be assured that although this entry door system has multiple openings, the FrameSaver materials will shield and protect the door from water damage.
