Northern California’s Friedman’s Home Improvement is celebrating a 70th anniversary this year. The company was established in 1946 by Benny and Joe Friedman, upon their return from World War II. The first Friedman’s location was opened on the banks of the Petaluma River, the West Coast Lumber and Building Material Association first published in its The Lumber Log newsletter.
Friedman’s now includes stores in Santa Rosa, Petaluma, Sonoma, and Ukiah in California. Currently owned by Bill Friedman, Friedman’s Home Improvement is in its third generation in the Friedman family, as Bill’s son, Barry Friedman, has joined the business.
