Tony Corsberg, VP of Merchandising at Friedman’s Home Improvement, has announced he will retire at the end of June. Corsberg has been with the Petaluma, Calif.-based retailer for more than 42 years, working his way up through the company, from part time stocker during high school, moving into sales, then to buying and marketing, and eventually leading the Merchandising Team as VP of Merchandising.
During his tenure, Corsberg helped see Friedman’s through the opening of its Ukiah, Sonoma and Petaluma stores as well as three major store remodels. Corsberg was also instrumental in creating the company’s iconic green brand identity in 2001. His relationships with the vendor community, both professionally and personally, were fundamental to his success. Corsberg says he was fortunate to learn from several industry retailers and suppliers over the years, allowing him to develop his Team’s merchandising and vendor management skills. Corsberg also served on both the Do it Best and NRHA Merchandising and Marketing Roundtables.
Corsberg will be succeeded by Joe Covert, a former SVP of Merchandising with Marin, Calif.-based Restoration Hardware with more than 20 years of retail merchandising experience.
