To help encourage more students across the country to consider construction careers, local and state HBAs are invited to apply for the Career Connections Funding Opportunity, funded by the Skilled Labor Fund (SLF) and managed by the National Housing Endowment (NHE).
NAHB says the purpose of this funding is to support activities that introduce students to careers in residential skilled trades, including:
- Traditional “career fairs” where students meet prospective employers in a trade show format
- Presentations where industry educates students about the career opportunities in residential skilled trades
- Industry participation in community or school organized career events
- Any bona fide activity that promotes the trades to students or endeavors to make employment connections
Funding is limited to $2,500 per HBA per event, and applications are due March 9. See NAHB’s NAHBNow blog for details.
