Fortifiber has stepped up the effectiveness of its top-performing hybrid drainable weather-resistive barrier (WRB) with the introduction of a new polymeric layer incorporating patented technology to deliver greater than 95% drainage efficiency.
Two-Ply Hydro Tex™ drainable weather-resistive barrier now incorporates WeatherSmart® Drainable as its base polymeric layer. Combined with an exterior layer of Super Jumbo Tex 60 Minute, Hydro Tex delivers highly efficient drainage which exceeds demanding code requirements. Customers will recognize the new product by its distinctive yellow color.
“With the recent introduction of WeatherSmart Drainable’s exceptional drainage technology, we saw an opportunity to improve our top-performing hybrid product,” said Chris Yount, President of Fortifiber Corporation. “We’re proud to offer a hybrid weather-resistive barrier with an industry leading drainage efficiency.”
Hydro Tex blends the proven performance of our Super Jumbo Tex 60 Minute® asphalt-saturated kraft paper with WeatherSmart® Drainable – packaged together into a single roll. Hydro Tex delivers substantially better drainage performance than a standard dual ply weather-resistive barrier. In fact, it exceeds the demanding code requirements for the State of Oregon (R703.1 Residential Specialty Code for weather-resistive barriers.)
The Jumbo Tex line has been the industry standard in asphalt saturated kraft for nearly sixty-five years, having helped invent the model for how WRBs should perform in a wall system. The WeatherSmart Drainable layer is an embossed spunbond polypropylene fabric incorporating patented technology that actually channels liquid away from the wall assembly. Made in the USA and protected by a 10-year limited warranty, Hydro Tex is available in 40″ wide, 162-square-foot rolls.
The product is part of a complete Moisture Control System for walls engineered by the Fortifiber Building Systems Group®, which has been chosen by builders and architects to protect over five million homes and commercial buildings from the problems caused by water intrusion. When integrated into the building envelope, our products help manage and eliminate moisture-related problems – including water-related structural failures, mold and mildew.
