Des Moines, Iowa – Spahn & Rose Lumber Company, of Dubuque, Iowa, received the 2023 Iowa Lumber Association (ILA) Dealer of the Year award. The award was presented at the 2023 Expo Iowa, hosted by Northwestern Lumber Association (NLA) on Thursday, March 2 at the Embassy Suites, downtown Des Moines. The honoree is nominated by retail and supplier members of ILA and NLA as a company who stands out as being ethical, committed to their industry and community, and respected by their peers.
Spahn & Rose Lumber Company, a 2022 LBM Journal Dealer of the Year, has maintained the goal of providing knowledgeable staff, excellent service and superior-quality products to Iowa contractors and builders since 1904. Today, Spahn & Rose has 24 retail lumber and building-material stores in Iowa, Illinois, Wisconsin, and Georgia, along with a lumber-distribution facility in Independence, Iowa. In 1950, the company founded the Spahn & Rose Charitable Foundation, whose mission has always been to improve educational opportunities and quality of life in the communities Spahn & Rose serves by supporting like-minded organizations. The Foundation remains highly active, and between 2019 and 2022, donated more than $1.3 million to a range of non-profit groups and other worthy causes.
As an association member, Spahn & Rose has been a steadfast supporter of Northwestern Lumber Association (NLA) and the Iowa Lumber Association (ILA). Long Creek Steel (LCS), of Beresford, South Dakota, was honored with the 2023 ILA Supporter of the Year Award. The honoree is nominated by retail members of ILA, the ILA Board of Directors and members of the staff as a member of the vendor community who continually supports the independent lumber dealer market and the association with their time, talents, and resources.
LCS opened its operation in 2004. As an association member, LCS has been a long-time supporter of the Iowa Lumber Association and Northwestern Lumber Association as a member, sponsor, exhibitor and as attendees at all the Association’s annual events and Expos.
