Kodiak’s Christensen Lumber celebrates 100 years

HIGHLANDS RANCH, Colo. — Kodiak Building Partners and Christensen Lumber Company announced Christensen’s 100th anniversary as a building materials business serving Nebraska’s home builders and contractors with lumber, engineered components, millwork, windows, and other building products.

Christensen Lumber Company was originally founded as Luehrs-Christensen Coal & Lumber Company on March 23, 1923, in Fremont, Nebraska by Alfred F. Christensen and Robert A. Leuhrs when the pair purchased a coal and lumber facility. In 1943, Luehrs retired and sold his interests to Christensen and the company became known as Christensen Lumber & Coal before changing its name for a final time in 1955 to Christensen Lumber Company when coal was dropped from the Christensen product lineup.

Throughout the next 50 years, David and Tom Christensen continued to enhance facilities including trusses, components, drawing and estimation, millwork and door, and a Home Center.

White Paper: How to keep your business safe during the pandemic

Is your business open or are you considering reopening to employees, the public, or both during the pandemic? If so, you’ll need to make sure that your reopening plan is consistent with applicable local and state orders, and that you are ready to protect everyone in your business—especially those at higher risk—from contracting the virus.

“Christensen has experienced phenomenal growth in its 100 years,” said Mike Flood, executive vice president of operations for Kodiak Building Partners. “In the advancement of this growth, Christensen will continue to bring superior products and exceptional customer service to local professional builders and contractors.”

“As we celebrate our 100th anniversary this year, we are filled with gratitude for the support from our community as well as determination to keep our customers’ projects at an exceptional level by applying our time-tested systems, processes, and skills,” said Tom Christensen, chairman of Christensen Lumber Company. “Building and growing with our community and customers have always been at the heart of what we do. It has been a memorable journey with a truly amazing team. I am honored to be working alongside such an intelligent, hardworking, and driven team of professionals, and I am excited for what the future holds for Christensen.”

The Christensen Lumber team consists of experienced lumber and millwork professionals led by President Tim Ferguson and seasoned experts, most of whom have served in decades-long careers at Christensen. Together they deliver world-class standard lumber and components products to their customers in Nebraska, said a press release from Kodiak Building Partners.
