Kuiken Brothers opens Newark facility

Kuiken Brothers has announced that the company’s ninth residential and commercial building materials location in Newark, New Jersey is now open. With convenient connectivity via road and rail and waterfront access on Port Newark’s shipping channel, the facility will help Kuiken Brothers better serve its expanding marketplace in the New Jersey/New York metro region.

The 10-acre site features covered storage, including a drive-through warehouse with eight loading docks, an automated racking system and exterior covered racking (storage sheds and cantilever systems). All of these structures were designed and built to provide covered storage for product categories to include lumber, windows, doors, moulding, drywall, steel studs, insulation, acoustical ceilings, hardware, plywood, panels, engineered lumber and decking, the company says. Over a quarter mile of rail siding to the waterfront accommodates the direct shipment of lumber, plywood and drywall from premier lumber mills and manufacturing facilities in North America.

“For many years we have supplied builders, remodelers, developers and general contractors with a wide range of residential and commercial materials in the Hudson, Essex and Union County markets,” the company announced on its website, adding that the Newark location, featuring 115,000 square feet of covered storage, will provide greater access and allow for faster delivery into these markets.

Perhaps an even bigger opportunity for the 107-year-old company is at the new location “opens up opportunities for new relationships to be established with builders and remodelers in the greater NYC Metro market.” The Newark location’s drive-through warehouse with nine loading docks and auto-racking is about one mile off Exit 15E on the New Jersey Turnpike, with access to Route 78, Route 280, Routes 1 & 9 and the Garden State Parkway.
