LMC dealers team up at Wharton School of Business

Wayne, Penn. — LMC dealers went back to class at the Wharton School of Business earlier this month. For the sixth year, LMC has partnered with the Wharton school to offer a concentrated management program which covers topics such as marketing, finance, culture, innovation and negotiation, in addition to building skills in financial acumen, strategic planning and leadership.

A total of 46 leaders from 33 companies attending the LMC Executive Education Program that took place January 13-17 on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania.

“This was a great educational experience with a wonderful variety of people,” said John Evans, owner & president of Garris Evans Lumber Company. “These educational experiences make you think more about what you are doing today and helps you focus a different light on what you should be thinking about for the future and how you are going to get there.”

“The week at Wharton was really great,” said Jonathan Eldridge, general manager of Forest Door & Window. “They have very knowledgeable instructors who really challenge you to re-think the way you approach aspects of the business.”

According to a press release from LMC, a key component of the program takes place when participants apply what they learned in the classroom to an industry-related case study. Working together in teams, they must come together to formulate their solution and strategy for the case study and present it to the class.

“The experience with the diversity of the other LMC dealers from around the country was very energizing,” said David Wells, corporate purchasing manager at Goldsboro Builders Supply. “With all the different people and applying what we learned; I saw how everybody took in the information a little differently. We learned not only from the instructors but from each other and I genuinely enjoyed the experience.”

“This week at Wharton has been a tremendous opportunity,” explained Kylie Holland, director of organizational development at Curtis Lumber Company. ”We’ve learned so much in this one week that a lot of other folks don’t get to experience over their whole careers.”
