COLLIERVILLE, Tn. – Maximus Building Supply announced this month that it is expanding in West Tennessee with the acquisition of the assets related to the operations of Brighton Lumber Company, located in Brighton, Tennessee. Oneal Tankersley has owned and managed Brighton Lumber Company for the past 17 years. Richard Cooper, president and owner of Maximus Building Supply, reached out to discuss the possibility of a transaction between the two local area companies, and the deal closed earlier in July.
Cooper said, “I knew we wanted to expand the company, and Brighton Lumber Company was the perfect opportunity. Brighton is less than 35 miles north of Memphis and less than 30 miles from Stanton, Tennessee, where the new Ford Blue Oval City mega-campus is being built – we feel this is an ideal location and we see exceptional growth potential in this market.”
For over a decade, Maximus Building Supply has been providing building materials throughout Tipton County, where Brighton is located, and serves customers across West Tennessee from Shelby County to Jackson and Pickwick. Maximus also serves customers throughout North Mississippi as far south as Starkville and extending into Arkansas and Kentucky. Cooper said, “Having a location in Brighton helps us support those markets and allows us to serve more customers in West Tennessee.”
The lumberyard at Brighton will be closed for two weeks to reorganize the warehouse and bring in more inventory. During that time, the showroom will be open with substantial discounts offered on most hardware, electrical, plumbing and sporting good items. The business will fully reopen on August 1 as Maximus Building Supply.
Oneal Tankersley has been in the building industry for over 40 years and purchased Brighton Lumber Company in 2006. Tankersley said, “I am thrilled to be turning over the store to the Maximus team. I know they will provide the quality and service the builders in this area expect. I am retiring from selling building materials, but I will continue building custom homes in Brighton and Munford and plan to buy all my building supplies from Maximus”. Cooper added, “I really enjoyed working with Oneal. We got along great, and the process went very smoothly with no issues at all. We look forward to providing building supplies for the homes he is building and becoming a part of the local community.”
