Maximus Building Supply makes record contribution to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital

Collierville, Tenn. — Maximus Building Supply, formerly Thrifty Building Supply, with headquarters in Collierville, Tennessee has made significant contributions to support St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital over the years, and this year is the largest to date.

Maximus Building Supply is committed to providing quality building materials and serving their customers, but they are also committed to giving back to their local community. In a press release, the company said that faith and community service are values that have been bedrocks since it was founded nearly 40 years ago and continue to matter today.

The company supports St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital to realize the dream that “no child should die in the dawn of life.” St. Jude and Team Carson Elizabeth — which participates in the annual St. Jude Memphis Marathon Weekend taking place this year on Saturday December 3 — are near and dear to the hearts of everyone at Maximus. Carson’s father Michael Head, the company’s vice president and one of its business partners, founded the marathon team in memory of Carson, who was diagnosed with osteosarcoma the day before her eighth birthday and lost her battle far too young at nine years and three months.

For the past five years, Maximus has donated materials for the St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway. This year, their donation was the largest trade partner in-kind gift of materials in the history of the Memphis market for the St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway which has been around for 31 years and is in 46 cities across the U.S.

To further their commitment and support of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, this year in September, in honor of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, Maximus Building Supply created a custom house wrap featuring St. Jude and Team Carson Elizabeth. They sold 358 rolls of house wrap in the month of September. For each house wrap sold, Maximus donated 100% of the sales along with additional donations from the salesmen and matching donations by the company’s owners, Richard and Amee Cooper, Michael Head and Steve Martin, donating a total of $50,000.

“I’m forever grateful to have the opportunity to work for a company that has the same passion to support St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital as my wife, Paula and I do. Over the past 8 years, the Team Carson Elizabeth marathon team has raised over $840,000. This year in honor of Carson’s 16th birthday, we have set a goal of $160,000. Thanks to Maximus Building Supply for donating nearly $74,000 this year and the other teammates we have met and exceeded our goal by raising nearly $191,000 and we aren’t finished counting. Team Carson Elizabeth has crushed the goal of $160k and officially have gone over the $1M mark which was a goal our family has wanted to reach before Carson would have graduated from high school,” said Head. “Because of the overwhelming support, we hit that mark a year early. To say I’m grateful is an understatement.”

Richard Cooper, president and majority owner of Maximus Building Supply said, “we have been supporting St. Jude for years and when Michael joined our team and we heard about his story, we knew we wanted to be able to do more for St. Jude. We are very fortunate and blessed to have St. Jude in our hometown and as a local, family-owned business, we feel it is a natural fit.”
