NLBMDA participates in White House supply chain summit

Washington — The National Lumber and Building Material Dealers Association (NLBMDA) participated in a July 16 summit organized by the White House and Biden Administration to discuss ongoing concerns regarding lumber price volatility and home building material supply chain issues. The White House invited NLBMDA to participate in the summit as the representative of the lumber and building material dealer industry. NLBMDA released the following statement after the meeting:

“It was an honor to speak with Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo, Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Marcia Fudge, and other members of the White House Administration on behalf of the National Lumber and Building Material Dealers Association,” said NLBMDA President & CEO Jonathan Paine. “As the national voice of lumber and building material dealers across the United States, I want to thank the White House for inviting NLBMDA to participate in the summit and seeking input from our association on these critical issues. NLBMDA is encouraged by the Administration’s commitment to working with industry stakeholders like NLBMDA to find a solution to address ongoing lumber market volatility and supply chain disruptions. We must resolve the ongoing Softwood Lumber Agreement dispute with Canada and move forward with a comprehensive infrastructure package that includes critical housing provisions. We appreciate Secretary Raimondo and the White House’ willingness to examine all aspects of the construction supply chain. NLBMDA looks forward to continuing to work in collaboration with the Administration on solutions that are desperately needed.”

Topics addressed by NLBMDA during the summit included:

  • Softwood Lumber Dispute with Canada
  • Forest Management
  • Low Income Housing Tax Credit
  • Supply Chain Disruptions
