Builders Supply Company received the NLDA Dealer of the Year award. Builders Supply Company first opened its doors in 1951 at an old coal yard on North 24th street in Omaha, selling steel kitchen cabinets to local home builders. By 1955, the company had expanded and began supplying a large selection of building materials; lumber, trusses, millwork, wood-framed windows, hardware and wooden kitchen cabinets. Throughout the 1960s and 70s, the city of Omaha continued to rapidly grow and expand in every direction. Builders Supply became a staple in that development, supplying materials to construction sites, housing developments, and commercial projects.

Currently, Builders Supply employs over 260 employees and continues to be at the heart of Omaha’s building community. The operation sits on over 50 acres in the heart of Omaha. The company is 100% Employee Owned, providing quality jobs, benefits, opportunities, and a sense of ownership in the success of the business. Members of the award committee noted that “Builders Supply Company has been a staple member of the Nebraska Lumber Dealers Association – and NLA – for decades.  Their commitment to the industry and to engaging with the organization via its annual events, education and programs makes them a leader in the organization and an organization that many can aspire to be.”

“Steve Sprenger’s (and the team’s) commitment to the independent lumber dealers in the Upper Midwest and the values of sustainability and quality service are what makes Sprenger Midwest such a great partner. Although their business has changed and shifted with the industry and the times, one thing remains a constant, and that is that their word and their handshake mean something — the way it was and the way it will always be,” said NLA President Cody Nuernberg.
