PRODUCT PICKS: Decking

Beautiful Deck from Tigerdeck

The outdoor living market is expanding, and it shows no signs of stopping.

BY: LBM STAFF REPORT

The outdoor living market is expanding, and it shows no signs of stopping. Indeed, Principia, which has earned a reputation for having its finger on the pulse of the decking and railing market, forecasts North American decking and railing demand to top $3.92 billion in 2014. That represents a healthy increase over the $3.75 billion in 2013 and, if Principia’s forecasts are correct, it’ll top $4 billion in 2015. Not only is the overall market growing, more product choices and an increasingly competitive product landscape make it that much easier for you to protect your margins by carrying products not available from the competition. Whether you’re looking for the latest products made from wood-plastic composites or PVC, from treated wood, Redwood or Cedar— or something completely different (Aluminum? Recycled carpet fibers? Modified wood?), you’re sure to find it represented here.
