Q: What are the top three things you look for from a LBM supplier?
A: The top things I look for are service, inventory on the shelf, and quality materials.

Q: Describe your best lumber building materials vendor and why they are the best.
A: We work with Jackson Lumber now-a-days. They have provided good service and are convenient to our work area.

Q: When was the last time you changed vendors and why?
A: We moved to Jackson Lumber a few years ago when they opened a new location close to our office. They had good service, quality supplies, and pricing was competitive.

Q: When and why would you accept a meeting from a new supplier/vendor?
A: If they have product lines that we use and our other vendors didn’t have them, then we would accept a meeting.

Q: What do you wish LBM suppliers understood about your business?
A: I wish that LBM dealers would understand that “just in time” is too late, and that customizing everything is a problem, not a solution.

Q: What products (if any) do you buy installed?
A: We use all sorts of lumber and wood products, hardware, adhesives, finishes, roofing, siding and millwork, but don’t buy them installed.

Q: What is the number one problem that keeps you up at night?
A: I wonder, will my industry go the way of the great builders of the past like the Incans, Mayans and Egyptians? So much knowledge can be lost before it could be passed on and documented.

Q: What do you see as your biggest opportunity?
A: Helping others to reach their greatness.
