“We welcome Scott, with his passion for his work and his deep experience in the building materials distribution and manufacturing businesses,” said Mark Garboski, chief operations officer at Kodiak Building Partners. “As VP of Continuous Improvement, Scott’s collaborative leadership style, results focus, and high standards for operational excellence will enable us to become more systematic, efficient, and successful in our production processes.”

Morrison brings more than 35 years of leadership, industrial engineering, operations, and consulting experience in the LBM industry to his new role at Kodiak. Morrison is known for his prior consulting business, Scott Morrison Consulting, where he helped building materials companies over the years. He has successfully completed projects in about 10 Kodiak companies over the past 18 months, giving him a unique understanding of how to support and interact with Kodiak’s leadership team and thrive in a locally led organization.

“I am honored to join Kodiak as its first VP of Continuous Improvement. In my previous experience working with Kodiak’s companies, I developed a deep appreciation for what makes the Kodiak family so special. Kodiak’s success has always been rooted in its commitment to local autonomy and holistic culture, and I believe the company has tremendous opportunities to capitalize on this foundation and innovate for the future while continuing these local legacies. I look forward to working with our local teams to enhance customer experiences and provide more capabilities to help these businesses sustain and grow,” Morrison said.

Morrison will be developing and implementing an overall continuous improvement strategy and supporting Kodiak’s operating companies’ efforts to improve their operations in productivity, customer service, and safety by directly engaging Kodiak’s operating presidents and their teams. In addition, he will support Kodiak’s efforts to further develop its continuous improvement culture by identifying, mentoring, and developing continuous improvement- minded individuals across the country. This also includes supporting Kodiak’s recently launched back-office transformation efforts led by Darius McCurty, VP, corporate controller at Kodiak.

“Scott has tremendous depth and breadth of operations management experience with many local legacies in the industry, an innovative lens on what the future of operations looks like, and a compelling track record of delivering data-led solutions,” said Steve Swinney, chief executive officer at Kodiak Building Partners. “Pairing his distinctive expertise with our national production and distribution capabilities allows us to think logistically about our value proposition.”
