White Paper: How LBM Dealers Can Attract, Retain, and Empower Their Teams

In a Time of Labor Shortage, Do More with Fewer People

Riddio-Construction-&-Supply-Inc.-showroom2Q: Your company added a new showroom in early 2015. Why did you invest in the showroom?
A: We wanted to provide a top-quality location where builders, decorators and architects could come to see the newest products available to help in their specification and purchasing decisions.

Q: How are you promoting your new showroom?
A: Word of mouth has been very strong to start with for letting people know about the showroom. Our sales team has been on the phones inviting key trade people to the showroom and that’s worked well. Additionally, we’re planning an open house in September. Once that event happens we expect even stronger traffic to the showroom from both our customers and other industry professionals in our area. We believe that open house will be a key to familiarizing more potential customers in our marketplace with our new showroom.

Q: Riddio is a bit different from most dealer locations that have a showroom. In addition to selling products, you do a great deal of installation work. Tell us about that.
A: We sell and install products, which is seen as a tremendous asset to our builder customers. About 85% of what we sell we actually install. This has helped us develop a good relationship with builders because they can count on us as being a go-to specialized subcontractor. We bring many elements to the table for the builder. We have an integrated door and trim shop. We specialize in finish carpentry and employ only expert carpenters to work on the jobsite. Builders rely on us for reputable products and satisfaction-guaranteed installation work.
