Spahn & Rose Lumber Co. has closed an Iowa location.
The Forest City, Iowa site was closed as of Monday morning, according to Forest City Summit. The newspaper reported that a letter from Spahn & Rose CEO John Hannan was posted to the door of the building. The letter said the decision to close was “made after much thought and consideration.”
Dubuque-based Spahn & Rose operates 25 stores in three states. The Forest City store employed five. Company regional vice president Rick Miller told the Summit that the company is looking at transfers for the employees.
Hannan’s letter said it is hoped that Forest City customers can be served from the Spahn & Rose store in nearby Osage, Iowa.“If you currently have an ongoing project with Spahn & Rose we can assure you that we will see that project through to completion,” the paper quoted from the letter.
Miller told the Summit that the Forest City store is the second location to close since January 2015.
