Affiliated Distributors has honored Spahn & Rose Lumber Company with its Giving Back Award. The award was presented during the Affiliated Spring Meeting this past April in San Diego.
During the ceremony, Dan Maroni, president of Affiliated Distributors’ Building Materials Division, presented Spahn & Rose CEO Dave Davis with the Giving Back Award, now on display in the lobby of the Spahn & Rose General Office in Dubuque.
Based in Wayne, Pennsylvania, Affiliated Distributors is a $41 billion buying network with nationwide divisions, including building materials. For the past decade, Affiliated Distributors has presented the Giving Back Award to members that have made significant, ongoing contributions their communities.
“What was really impressive with Spahn & Rose was how broad they were in their community giving,” Maroni said. “Spahn & Rose doesn’t just give to one charity; the company is involved in many, many ways.”
In the past year, the company donated a record $131,000 to 66 organizations in communities home to Spahn & Rose stores including:
· Alzheimer’s Association of South Central Wisconsin
· Dubuque Regional Humane Society.
· Iowa Firefighters Association
· Iowa Heartland Habitat for Humanity
· Junior Achievement of the Heartland
· Make-A-Wish Iowa
· St. Mark Youth Enrichment
“We’re exceptionally proud and honored to receive the Affiliated Distributors Giving Back Award,” Davis says. “All the Spahn & Rose associates who have given their time, talent and energy to their communities earned this award.”
Spahn & Rose’s charitable giving is coordinated through the Spahn & Rose Charitable Foundation, established in 1950 to improve educational opportunities and quality of life in the communities the company serves by supporting like-minded nonprofit organizations. During the past three years, the Foundation has donated more than $386,000 to a range of nonprofit groups and other worthy causes.
