TandoStone Featured in MRS’s First College of Product Knowledge for Builders

Tando Composites was pleased to have TandoStone, the leading brand of composite stone, featured in Manufacturers Reserve Supply’s (MRS) College of Product Knowledge Pro: hands-on training for builders. MRS, based in Irvington, NJ, is a premier distributor of building and construction materials. The event, held April 30, 2025, included two sessions of hands-on demos using TandoStone, James Hardie fiber cement siding and Henry Water Resistive Barriers.

“MRS has been known for our informative product knowledge events for dealers for about 40 years,” said Tina Breen, VP of Sales & Marketing. “We’ve now taken this training right to the contractor. They were able to see leading brands in action and, in the case of TandoStone, James Hardie siding and Henry Water Resistive Barriers, experience the synergy between these leading brands.”

According to Ralph Bruno, CEO of Tando Composites, the MRS event was the perfect venue to reach exterior contractors with leading brands that offer jobsite solutions while working well together. “This is a great example of how MRS sets up their customers for success,” said Bruno. “In just a few hours, they get valuable hands-on experience with game changing products including self-adhering house wrap, fiber cement siding, and TandoStone. Installers learn how to build their business by utilizing TandoStone as a knee wall with fiber cement siding. This enables them to offer homeowners a mixed material exterior – with the beauty of stone – that wasn’t feasible in the past. Now it is.”

Siding installers trust the TandoStone system as the perfect complement to fiber cement. Using standard siding tools, they know TandoStone can be installed in a fraction of the time compared to natural stone or stone veneer – without mortar, adhesive or any special skills – and can be installed at ground contact as it is impervious to moisture.  TandoStone is available in two profiles: Stacked Stone, featuring a dry stack look with minimal grout lines, and Creek Ledgestone, resembling hand-picked stones with visible grout lines.

Ideal Siding franchise owner Ian Hanley attended the MRS event and agreed it was well worth the trip down from Westchester County, New York. “Having training by MRS on siding products that work together to save time and labor are key to my business model,” he said. ““I am currently using TandoStone as my standard for all siding jobs, including fiber cement. Thanks to MRS and this unique class, I’m learning best install and selling practices from several manufacturers in one place in one day!”
