Federal Way, Wash.—To meet the needs of West Coast builders, Weyerhaeuser will showcase its new Trus Joist® TimberStrand® LSL with Flak Jacket® FRT protection and Trus Joist® Parallam® PSL beams at the 2016 PCBC in San Francisco. On June 22 and 23, 2016, building industry professionals can visit booth #723 to learn how engineered lumber products from Weyerhaeuser enhance design capabilities and speed up construction processes for commercial and residential applications.

Trus Joist TimberStrand LSL with Flak Jacket FRT protection
Now available for West Coast applications, the new Trus Joist TimberStrand LSL with Flak Jacket FRT protection for rim board applications provides a code evaluated, patent-pending fire barrier for rim board.
Used exclusively in commercial and multi-family housing applications (Type III), the boards feature factory-applied coating that meets requirements of section 2303.2 “fire-retardant-treated-wood” of the International Building Code (IBC) and complies with the guidelines of ICC ES AC124.
“Unlike fire retardant treated wood using a pressure process, Flak Jacket FRT protection allows for all the benefits of TimberStrand LSL Rim design properties, including fastener values, with no reductions required,” says Minichiello. “This hard-working product alleviates dimensional stability and compatibility challenges while being non-corrosive to fasteners, hangers and connectors.”
The new TimberStrand LSL with Flak Jacket FRT comes in a variety of widths and depths, is backed by a limited lifetime product warranty and requires no special tools, training or handling for installation.
Trus Joist Parallam PSL
West Coast builders can also benefit from incorporating the long spans of Parallam PSL beams, headers and columns into their projects. The kiln-dried Parallam PSL products are engineered to support heavy loads and span long distances.
“We manufacture these beams with a patented microwave process that bonds together long, thin strands of wood,” says Minichiello. “The result beams provide consistent performance, deliver excellent connection performance, and resist shrinking, twisting, and bowing.”
Parallam PSL products are backed by a limited lifetime warranty.
